2003, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2017: Never before did viewers wait more than six years for a new installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, until the gap between the fifth and sixth films. We don't yet know when the sequel to the saga will be released in theaters, but let's be honest, it's highly unlikely that it will be before 2028. For productions of this scale, with so many scenes shot in studios and on location, filming lasts several months. Then there's the entire editing, special effects, mixing, and color grading process, which lasts several weeks. And all this "concrete" part of a film's existence only begins once the script is finished, the financing is approved, and the casting is complete!

And speaking of casting, Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the saga, has good news for fans. To our colleagues at Screen Rant, he confided that his teams are working on a script, and that actors from the previous films should be part of the adventure!

Jerry Bruckheimer: We're working on a script. I hope we get there and make it happen. We definitely want to do it, that's for sure.
ScreenRant: A sequel or something new?
Bruckheimer: It will be a new approach.
ScreenRant: New approach, new actors?
Jerry Bruckheimer: Well, not just new actors. We'll see some of them again.
ScreenRant: Okay...
Bruckheimer: I'm not going to tell you which ones - you'll have to guess.

What is certain is that the producer will do everything in his power to bring Johnny Depp back as Jack Sparrow, a goal he's had for several years.

It's unclear whether Disney will be able to offer Johnny Depp a large enough fee to bring him back as Jack Sparrow, years after he was fired by the studios (that was in 2020, time flies). Keira Knightley has repeatedly stated that she will not return, having had a poor experience with the critical reception of the series. But Orlando Bloom is more than up for the adventure of Pirates of the Caribbean 6, and supporting roles like Lee Arenberg and Mackenzie Crook, the colorful Pintel and Ragetti, have expressed their desire to return to the saga.

On the other hand, Geoffrey Rush, the inimitable Captain Barbossa, will never cross swords with the characters of Pirates of the Caribbean again: he died in Salazar's Revenge, and by the actor's own admission, going back on his sacrifice would diminish its emotional impact. Ditto for Naomi Harris, the interpreter of the witch Tia Dalma, disintegrated into millions of crabs in the saga...
