Red Dead Redemption: This feature will soon return to PC

Red Dead Redemption fans haven't had their last word. While Rockstar is focusing all its efforts on GTA 6, some enthusiasts have decided to take matters into their own hands. And the result looks promising: a mod in development aims to revive the multiplayer of the very first Red Dead Redemption. No less.

A forgotten multiplayer mode for Red Dead Redemption

Released in 2010, Red Dead Redemption remains a video game monument. While the single-player campaign marked an entire generation of players, the online mode also found its audience. Hunts, duels, camp raids... the multiplayer experience offered a good dose of action in an open and living Wild West. But Rockstar never followed up. Worse: after dropping Red Dead Online in 2022, the studio now seems to be turning the page. As a result, the community is taking up the torch.

Behind this somewhat crazy project is a modder named K3rhos. His idea? To create a multiplayer platform inspired by the original RDR. The mod is called RDRMP, and it's still in alpha phase. For now, it mainly allows for the technical foundations to be laid and custom servers to be launched. In other words, we're still far from a complete game... but the work is underway. And with a little patience (and a lot of passion), all of this could well give a second life to Rockstar's cult game.

A timely return

Coincidence? The mod arrives just as Red Dead Redemption is on Steam. A golden opportunity for new players to discover the title and for veterans to dive back into this unique western universe. This renewed interest could well give a boost to the mod's development. Especially since frustration remains high among fans, who have never gotten over the abandonment of Red Dead Online. Everything is available on Nexus.
