June is already well underway, but the major video game studios are far from done with their summer presentations. Following a rather exhaustive Nintendo Direct dedicated to Donkey Kong: Bananza, it's Capcom's turn to prepare the ground for its highly anticipated upcoming releases. A Capcom Spotlight presentation will take place on the night of Thursday, June 26th to Friday, June 27th at midnight (French time). We already know that the virtual conference will last around 40 minutes and will highlight four major titles from the Japanese giant.
Games that haven't said their last word
Capcom has already made its mark at the Summer Game Fest by unveiling Resident Evil 9, now known as Resident Evil Requiem, as well as by showing new clips from its mysterious Pragmata. But these brief appearances were probably not enough, since the Japanese studio is already back with additional announcements. Next week's Capcom Spotlight plans to feature "the latest news on eagerly awaited Capcom games" as well as "developer interviews" according to the event's official website.
Unsurprisingly, Street Fighter 6 will also be included, which suggests additional content to follow the launch of the Fighters Edition of the title on Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom is also highlighting Monster Hunter Wilds and promises “news about updates” for the game. This should include the arrival of Lagiacrus as an additional monster. PC players can keep their fingers crossed for further optimization efforts.
Should we expect any surprises?
Even though Capcom has clearly defined the broad outlines of its presentation and the big reveals all seem to have taken place during the Summer Game Fest, it is still possible that other announcements will slip into this Spotlight. Notably absent is the famous Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which could well make a surprise appearance.
Capcom also has the potential to surprise its viewers with news of Okami 2, but the title's development is certainly too early. So there remains one final candidate for the "one more thing" at the end of the presentation: a new installment in the Ace Attorney franchise. Now that the entire saga has been re-released on modern platforms, it's high time for Capcom to formally sign the return of Phoenix Wright and Apollo Justice. Verdict next week.
