On May 7, 2021, Resident Evil Village was released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, and Xbox One. The horror game was able to convince with a more open structure and memorable boss fights. Fans of the saga are therefore more than impatient to discover Resident Evil 9, which Capcom still hasn't deigned to announce more than four years after the release of the eighth installment.
Of course, Resident Evil 4 Remake came to bring them their dose of horror and action in March 2023, but nothing beats a brand-new episode. What if Resident Evil 9 finally showed up during Summer Game Fest 2025? A tipster expects Capcom to finally lift the veil on the game.
Capcom to finally reveal Resident Evil 9 at Summer Game Fest 2025
Leaker Dusk Golem, always very active on X to discuss the Resident Evil license, reveals that Capcom could unveil a first trailer for Resident Evil 9 during the main conference of Summer Game Fest 2025.
"Again, it's not like I can give 100% confirmation, nobody has told me directly or anything like that. But at this point, I'm 95% sure that we will have a presentation of RE9 at Summer Game Fest. This is the first time that behind the scenes, there's been a lot of buzz, a lot of rumors. Add to that the fact that Capcom's Resident Evil social media accounts seem to be suddenly becoming more active," Dusk Golem wrote on X.
Apparently, the tipster is basing his theory on what he can see and Capcom's schedule. It must be said that it would be very surprising if Capcom didn't communicate at all about the Resident Evil license this year after a radio silence in 2024. The Summer Game Fest seems like the perfect place to present RE 9.
Dusk Golem regularly talks about what this installment should have in store for players. Thus, Resident Evil 9 would offer an even more open structure than its predecessor. The adventure would take place on a fictional island near Singapore. Players would find Leon and Claire as playable characters, as in Resident Evil 2. The title could be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series in 2026.
Dusk Golem's comments should still be taken with a grain of salt. There's often a lot to be said about his words, and he's been known to miss the mark in the past. Join us this Friday, June 6 at 7 p.m. French time to attend the main conference of Summer Game Fest 2025.
