Voice tools powered by artificial intelligence are gaining ground on mobile. With Gemini Live, which has been available here for several weeks, Google is enabling natural conversations with AI. Other apps are following suit, with systems capable of responding to voice, even when the screen is locked or another app is open. This new mode of interaction is starting to replace traditional searches.

In this vein, Google is launching Search Live, a new feature available in the Google app on Android and iOS. It allows users to launch a voice search without using the keyboard, directly via the “Live” icon under the search bar. The service is currently being tested in the United States for users enrolled in the Labs program. In France, deployment could take a few weeks to a few months, as was the case for Gemini Live.

Once Search Live is activated, users can speak naturally to ask a question. For example, “How do I control my PC from my Android phone?” followed by “Is it secure?” The AI responds aloud and displays clickable links to explore further. A button also allows you to open a transcript of the dialogue or type questions by hand, if needed. The interface is designed to be clear, with a full-screen display and accessible buttons to mute the microphone or skip to text. Several voice styles are available, with a more natural tone than traditional assistants. The feature remains active even when another application is used. It is based on a voice model derived from Gemini, with voices like Cosmo or Cassini. It can also ask additional questions to refine the search. Google is planning a camera option soon to show the AI what you see in real time. Search Live is still limited, but its full integration into the Google app suggests a gradual global rollout.
