Steam is offering you an excellent free game from a cult indie license

Barely have the traditional weekend offers ended than Steam is offering yet another free game to grab and keep indefinitely in your library. As usual on the Epic Games Store outside of Mega Sale periods, this is an independent title, which is also of very high caliber and comes from a now very popular license. We dig a little deeper into the question below.

An excellent free game to dig up right now on Steam

While waiting for a certain Hollow Knight Silksong, if you need your dose of metroidvania, the free game currently offered on Steam might satisfy you. However, we're swapping the iconic insectoid universe of Team Cherry studio and Hornet's sting for a world mixing the Wild West and mechanical beings, pickaxe in hand. We're talking, of course, about the first SteamWorld Dig, developed and published by Image & Form Games and released in 2013.

A game that's definitely a bit older, but which has ultimately aged very little thanks to its superb, timeless and colorful artistic direction. As its name suggests, the title, currently free on Steam, lets us play as a robot miner, who will have to go underground to collect precious resources in order to save the dying city on the surface. Many dangers, enemies, traps, and mysteries await our prospector, who will be able to develop his abilities thanks to the treasures he unearths once he returns to the surface.

SteamWorld Dig is therefore still clearly a game that deserves to be tried and devoured, and that's good, because you have until June 26th at 7:00 p.m. to unearth this pure nugget of gold on Steam before it becomes chargeable again, at the modest price of 9.99 euros. It's also worth noting that the SteamWorld license is also benefiting from numerous promotions until June 26th, allowing you to get the first and second installments (even more acclaimed by critics and players) for only 1.77 euros, among other good deals.
