Available as a not-so-secret shadowdrop since April 22 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered is finally receiving its first major update today for all relevant platforms. Codenamed 1.1, it had only been available in beta on the PC version of the game since June 5. It's now officially rolled out to everyone, and here's what it brings.
Finally, a first major update for The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered
Almost two months after its launch, The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered is finally moving to version 1.1. Despite the beautiful reworking of this Bethesda landmark on Unreal Engine 5 by Virtuos Games, which is also working on Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, this Remaster unfortunately suffered from several bugs and performance issues. Many of them are not necessarily attributable to the Remaster, but to the base game itself.
In any case, this update 1.1 of The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered aims to bring some stability to Cyrodiil, with the resolution of numerous crashes on several levels. The interface also receives beneficial fixes, including the return of the "Skip" button during the introduction. The update also adds the ToggleHudVisibility (activation of HUD visibility) and ShowHud (display HUD) commands in the console.
Finally, many system settings and quests also receive welcome fixes. In the first case, we will notably note improved stability in terms of saves and management of screen resolutions, even in windowed mode. In the second case, we appreciate bug fixes for iconic quests of The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion like the Battle of Kvatch. For all the details, go to the Steam page of the notes of the update 1.1 in its beta version, which we find identically in its official form.
Unfortunately, you will have to switch back to Oblivion later for performance improvements
This first update two months after the release of The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered unfortunately does not address performance, much to the dismay of many players. We will therefore unfortunately have to wait for the deployment of another patch shortly on this level. Virtuos and Bethesda have in any case assured that they are actively looking into the subject, particularly concerning major stuttering problems. In the meantime, we'll unfortunately have to compensate for the whims of Merhunes Dagon's domain.
