While waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6, still very mysterious and without a release date, some players are looking for an RPG capable of filling this long void. And good news: Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon could well be this rare gem. Better still, a free demo is available now on the PlayStation Store, without the need for a PS Plus subscription.
A dark and promising RPG to discover for free while waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6
Developed by Awaken Realms, Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon is an open-world RPG heavily inspired by TES and what could be The Elder Scrolls 6, with a darker and more desperate atmosphere. In a world where King Arthur is long dead, legends are crumbling, and humans struggle to survive in an Avalon plagued by a supernatural corruption called the Wyrdness.
The campaign, which promises between 50 and 70 hours of gameplay depending on your style, immerses you in this declining world where several factions vie for power. Exploration, quests, narrative choices and first-person combat are all there... And it's in the purest tradition of Western RPGs, as The Elder Scrolls 6 should be.
Already critically acclaimed
After a successful early access phase on Steam (where it already had "very positive" ratings), the game has just been released in full version on May 23, 2025. And the first reviews are enthusiastic: Tainted Grail has an average of 85 % on OpenCritic. Available for free on the PlayStation Store, the demo has already received nearly 2,000 positive reviews. A sign that players have clearly been won over. All in all, a great way to while away the time while waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6. Everything can be found at this link for PS5 or here on PC (via Steam).
Available now as a demo, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon allows you to get a clear idea of its gameplay and universe before the release of the full version, which will be available for €44.99. The game will also be coming to Xbox Series and PC.
