Recently released in its remastered version, The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion continues to generate buzz. Bethesda has announced the arrival of its first major update, numbered 1.1, intended to significantly improve the gaming experience. This will first be deployed in beta on Steam starting today, before a public release on all platforms on June 11. A second patch, focused on performance, is also in the works, but will arrive a little later.
An update focused on stability and quests for The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered
This first patch for The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered focuses primarily on blocking bugs, frequent crashes, and various quality-of-life issues. Notable fixes include the resolution of crashes that occur during fast travel, certain combat encounters, and quest events. Adjustments have also been made to faulty animations, visually missing spells, and translation errors.
On the interface side, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered benefits from several welcome small tweaks. Bethesda, for example, has corrected the display of the "Skip" button during the intro, as well as the customization options for enchanted items that remained invisible when playing with a controller.
At the same time, some system settings have been improved. This is the case for saves, screen resolution management, and the sometimes capricious behavior of the window in windowed mode. Nothing revolutionary, but all this should make the experience smoother on a daily basis.
Finally, certain emblematic quests also receive their share of fixes. The Battle of Kvatch, A Knife in the Shadow, The Elven Maiden or The Sunken Sun are affected. Bethesda fixed script bugs, characters not appearing, or even crashes occurring at specific times. Details, certainly, but which can break the immersion in an RPG as rich as The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered .
Performance, a sensitive point postponed until later
While this update fixes a large number of technical issues in The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered , it does not yet improve the game's performance, a point that has been heavily criticized by players since launch. Optimization, particularly stuttering issues, remains on the agenda, but will be the subject of a second separate patch whose date remains to be determined.
Bethesda has specified that this future update will focus exclusively on fluidity and stability, two aspects considered priorities by the community of The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered , as evidenced by the numerous comments on social networks.
As with most Bethesda titles, PC players can access update 1.1 now via the beta branch on Steam. The procedure to access it is simple: simply open the game properties in the Steam library and select the "[beta]" branch. The studio also invites players to share their feedback via its official Discord server.
