The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a flop

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a flop

The Galaxy S26 Plus can sleep easy. A few weeks ago, we reported that Samsung was likely internally testing the in-store performance of its recently released ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone, with a view to potentially replacing the Plus model in the S26 lineup next year.

Based on early sales reports for the ultra-thin phone, the S25 Edge is nowhere near that honor. As reported by The Elec, the device is selling less well than the company had anticipated.

A drop in production

The decline is such that Samsung has reportedly reduced the number of units produced. This is particularly worrying for a device released in May, since the first few months are traditionally when a tech product sells best.

At the same time, Samsung is reportedly planning to increase production of the Galaxy Z Fold7 for the US market, going from 200,000 to 600,000 units. Perhaps a sign that with the design changes, the Korean company is anticipating significant success for its folding smartphones.

Why is the Galaxy S25 Edge struggling to convince?

As we pointed out in our test where we gave it 3.5/5, the Galaxy S25 Edge may be very pleasant in the hand thanks to its thinness and reduced weight, but it makes many concessions that make it uncompetitive in its price range.

The ultra-thin device is sold for 1249 euros, despite its lower performance and the absence of a telephoto lens. However, it should be noted that on the battery life front, it held up quite well, matching the performance of a Galaxy S25.
