The Nintendo Switch 2 has been available on the market since June 5th. Unfortunately, the console is (already) suffering from reliability issues related to its controllers, the Joy-Con. Remember, with the first Switch, Nintendo had to deal with the infamous Joy-Con Drift, a malfunction related to the joysticks that perform movements without any interaction, which leads to involuntary movements in the game. This therefore has a huge impact on in-game precision.
Nintendo took several months to acknowledge and accept refund requests for the first Switch and promised that this would not happen again with the Switch 2 Joy-Con. Unfortunately, the Japanese company failed.
The Switch2 Joy-Cons suffer from Drift, here's how to "fix" it
Only ten days after its release, the Switch2 is already having to deal with the Joy-Con Drift issues that Nintendo had promised to resolve. So, this time, the Japanese company immediately acknowledges the problem and promises to repair for free any controllers that suffer from this problem. But, this is still bad publicity for Big N, which risks finding itself with a lot of problems, following the immense success of its console.
There are several stages related to Joy-Con Drift. For some, it is dust that can be easily corrected by cleaning the sides of your joystick with a little air can. For more complex cases, you will need to disassemble your Joy-Con. For this, iFixit has published a tutorial to help you. However, it is important to note that this action is not exactly simple.
iFixit also warns that another Joy-Con Drift issue could occur concerning tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors. In other words, a problem with the magnet, which allows the Joy-Con to be attached to the console.
In any case, disassembling the Joy-Con from your Switch2 may void their warranty. Therefore, the best solution if you suffer from Joy-Con Drift is to contact Nintendo's after-sales service directly to get a refund or have your controllers repaired.
