Tesla can expect increased sales of the Model Y Propulsion and Long Range in France. The vehicles are now eligible for the ecological bonus.
Several weeks late, Tesla has finally announced that its latest vehicles, the 2025 versions of the Model Y Propulsion and Long Range, are finally eligible for the ecological bonus in France. Both models have achieved the minimum environmental score according to the criteria of Ademe (French Environment and Energy Management Agency). Interested drivers will therefore be able to save a few thousand euros on the purchase of a new-generation Tesla Model Y.
For individuals, the ecological bonus represents between 2,000 and 4,000 euros in savings on purchase, depending on the household's taxable income. The price of the Tesla Model Y Propulsion therefore increases from 44,990 to 40,990 euros minimum. The Model Y Long Range sees its price drop, at best, to 42,990 euros, instead of 46,990 euros. The Model Y All-Wheel Drive, currently the most expensive, is excluded from the ecological bonus.
A boost for Tesla Model Y sales?
Will this be enough to attract consumers? Produced at the Giga Factory in Berlin-Brandenburg, the 2025 Model Y available in France has not been a great sales success since its release. It is likely that some potential buyers waited for the official announcement of eligibility for the ecological bonus to reserve the vehicle. Now that this is done, demand may take off.
But we doubt that sales of this 2025 Tesla Model Y will break through the roof in the coming months. Competition is already becoming increasingly fierce in the electric vehicle segment. The limitations of autonomous driving in Europe are also hampering interest in Tesla's technological advancement in this area, unlike in the United States.
But above all, there has been an anti-Musk effect since the beginning of the year. The Tesla boss supported Donald Trump during his campaign and even joined his government. He has also made controversial remarks on various social issues. While Musk has distanced himself from Trump in recent weeks, the damage is done. Tesla sold only 721 vehicles in France in May 2025, compared to 2,197 in May 2024, a drop of 67.18% in one year. Tesla's market share in France has almost been divided by three over the period, falling from 1.55% to 0.58%.
