It's official, one of the biggest weeks in the video game industry will start tomorrow. Indeed, it is on June 3rd that the main conferences of Summer Game Fest 2025 will be launched, while waiting for the main ceremony on Friday evening and the Xbox conference on Sunday evening.
But in the meantime, quite a few things should get us in the mood, such as the State of Unreal conference tomorrow at 3:30 p.m., which will allow us to discover a preview of The Witcher IV.
Also remember that this week, and more precisely Thursday, is the release of the Nintendo Switch2. This week is shaping up to be a crazy one for video game enthusiasts.
The Witcher IV: A preview starting tomorrow
A few days ago, we discovered that CD Projekt Red was one of the 60 partners of the Summer Game Fest. We thought then that the Polish publisher was going to offer us a launch trailer for CyberPunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, which is expected on Thursday for Nintendo Switch 2. We might have the opportunity to see this video, but in any case, it's The Witcher IV that's likely to capture all the attention. The next main installment of the license was officially unveiled at The Game Awards 2024. It will already be ready to show itself a second time, starting tomorrow, June 3 at 3:30 p.m. (French time) during the State of Unreal conference. This conference organized by Epic will aim to unveil the new features of the Unreal Engine 5 engine and to discuss new developments related to the Epic ecosystem.
So of course, we shouldn't expect a new trailer and a lot of information about the game's story. The State of Unreal conference aims to show the technical possibilities of the Unreal Engine 5 engine. We're likely to get a glimpse of the gameplay mechanics, graphics, and possibilities that we can find in The Witcher IV, which is not expected before the end of 2026 or even 2027 in the best case scenario.
What's interesting is that CD Projekt Red specifies that this presentation will be an opportunity to show the innovative technologies and features that will propel The Witcher IV "and beyond". It should be noted that the Polish studio has confirmed that from now on, all of their games will run on Unreal Engine, including CyberPunk 2 which has just entered the pre-production phase.
So, this preview of The Witcher IV could also give us a taste of what we could have in the next CyberPunk game. In any case, it looks very interesting!
