Xiaomi is about to launch its Mix Flip 2. We already know a good part of its technical specifications, which promise to overshadow those of Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is also coming soon.
Xiaomi will launch its Mix Flip 2 on June 26, but the brand has already officially unveiled most of the specifications of its new folding smartphone at flip. And given the device's specs, Samsung may have some concerns about its Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is coming out in July.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. And according to early benchmarks, it significantly outperforms the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which features an Exynos 2500, in terms of performance. On Geekbench, the Xiaomi smartphone scores over 3,000 in single-core, while the Z Flip 7 doesn't exceed 2,500. In multi-core, the Mix Flip 2 clocks in at around 9,500, while the Samsung phone is closer to 8,000. Both devices have 12 GB of RAM.
An attractive specs sheet for the Mix Flip 2
Xiaomi announces a 5,165 mAh battery for its next foldable. This is well above the 4,300 mAh expected for the Z Flip 7, which is nevertheless progressing compared to the Z Flip 6. On the charging side too, the Chinese manufacturer does better, with a power of 67 W via cable and 50 W wirelessly, compared to 25 W and 15 W respectively for the Samsung product.
The Mix Flip 2 entrusts its external display to a 4.01-inch OLED screen, for a maximum brightness of 3,200 nits. Xiaomi mentions 500 applications compatible with this cover screen. Fortunately, Samsung is making improvements on its new model. The diagonal of the external screen goes from 3.4 to approximately 4 inches on the Z Flip 7, allowing it to make up some ground in this area on the competition.
The Mix Flip 2 measures 7.57 mm thick and weighs 199 grams. It will benefit from a new, more robust hinge structure and a frosted metal central chassis. Good news: the loose hinge of the first Mix Flip worried us during our review. In this respect, Samsung's foldable is more mature.
