“There is no Ultra model,” but the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would be entitled to these new features

Yesterday, Samsung's announcement of an "Ultra" folding device caused a stir, with some predicting the arrival of a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra. However, according to a reputable source in the industry, this model simply doesn't exist. It's simply a change in marketing language to refer to improvements to the classic Galaxy Z Fold 7.

A boosted Galaxy Z Fold 7, but no "Ultra" version

Samsung recently released a mysterious teaser hinting at an "Ultra" folding model, immediately rekindling rumors surrounding a new high-end version of the Galaxy Z Fold. But according to Max Jambor, a reputable leaker, no Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra is expected this summer. The name "Ultra" would not refer to a new model, but to a series of notable improvements made to the classic version.

According to its information, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would include new features in four areas: photo quality, performance, slim design, and perhaps also... price. One of the most notable rumors suggests a 200-megapixel main sensor, compared to 50 MP for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The under-display camera would also benefit from an upgrade, although the rest of the camera module would remain similar.

In terms of performance, the Fold 7 would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in its version optimized for Samsung, a choice that should offer a significant gain in terms of performance and energy efficiency.

A thinner design and a release planned for July

One of the other announced improvements concerns the thinness of the device. When closed, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could measure only 9.5 mm thick, compared to 12.1 mm for the Fold 6. Once opened, it would be only 4.5 mm. These figures would place it among the thinnest folding smartphones on the market.

Finally, the official presentation of the device could take place very soon. A leak relayed by Business Korea suggests a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10 in New York. This would be the first time since 2022 that Samsung has held an Unpacked conference in the American city. As of yet, no official release date has been confirmed.
