From the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 to the release of season 4 of The Bear, including 28 Days Later and the next Pixar release, we don't know where to look in June 2025. Here's the full monthly schedule for movies, series, video games, and manga!
#1 Mountainhead, by Jesse Armstrong
After the triumph of the series Succession, which he directed for HBO, Jesse Armstrong makes its big comeback on Max with the film Mountainhead. The feature film follows a group of billionaire friends who reunite for a mountain retreat, just as a financial crisis erupts. We can't wait to see the new work of this great portraitist of the wealthiest classes.
Available on Max from June 1, 2025.
#2 Cloud, by Kiyoshi Kurosawa
Often considered one of Japan's most prestigious filmmakers, Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Cure) returns with a new thriller, inspired by a news story that deeply affected him. Cloud follows the infernal machinery that will lead an online retailer to flee increasingly threatening customers in a hyperconnected Japan.
Theatrical release on June 4 2025.
#3 Berserk - Prestige Edition vol. 1, by Kentarō Miura
In addition to being a gem of dark fantasy, the manga Berserk is one of the most important seinen ever written. Conceived by the legendary and late Kentarō Miura, Guts' adventures through a dark and violent world have been given a new look in a brand-new prestige edition published by Glénat. Each volume of this hardcover edition combines two volumes from the standard edition, and offers a revised and expanded translation, as well as color pages previously available only in the archives of the publisher Hakusensha. French fans of Berserk deserved this!
Available in bookstores from June 4, 2025 (second volume available from June 18, 2025).
#4 Ballerina, by Len Wiseman
The John Wick saga returns to theaters at the beginning of June with the film Ballerina by Len Wiseman. The film, set between the films John Wick: Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, follows the adventures of a ballet dancer played by Ana de Armas who becomes a vengeful killer seeking to punish those who stole her father's life. A must-see for action movie fans!
Theatrical release June 4, 2025.
#5 Nintendo Switch 2
The release of a Nintendo game console is always an event, and the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 is no exception. Eight years after its first hybrid console, which was a true triumph, reaching the third place of the best-selling consoles in the history of video games, Nintendo fans are getting ready to welcome the Switch 2, bigger and more powerful than the previous one. While the prices are very expensive, and we will have to wait a little while before the console reveals its true potential, its release remains one of the cultural events of the year!
Released on June 5, 2025.
#6 Mario Kart World, from Nintendo
Chosen to accompany the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World is the first game in the license since Mario Kart Deluxe. Despite the controversy surrounding its very high price (89.99 euros in its physical version), the game remains particularly ambitious since it is the first Mario Kart in an open world. Moreover, the game should take full advantage of the console's Game Chat feature, and it is designed as a real meeting place for players. We can't wait! Released June 5, 2025. #7 Predator: Killer of Killers, by Dan Trachtenberg
After the success of Prey (released in 2022) and which told us the story of the confrontation between a young Comanche woman from the 18th century and a Predator, the excellent Dan Trachtenberg is back with the animated film Predator: Killer of Killers. This new feature film will tell us three stories, in which a Viking, a Ninja, and a pilot face off against a Predator. The first trailer, recently released by Disney+, looks very promising. We can't wait!
Available on Disney+ from June 6, 2025.
#8 Asadora vol.9, by Naoki Urasawa
While the great mangaka Naoki Urasawa (Monster, 20th Century Boys, Pluto) will be in Amiens on June 7 and 8, 2025 for the Les Rendez-vous de la Bande-Dessinée festival, Kana Editions will take the opportunity to release three manga by this manga legend: volume 3 of Pineapple Army, Jigoro! (a spin-off centered on Yawara's grandfather) and volume 9 of Asadora. This latest manga, too little known, is nevertheless one of its author's greatest successes. Mixing thriller, kaiju, sports and contemporary Japanese history, it is a masterpiece that we would dream of seeing adapted into an animated series.
Released on June 6, 2025 in bookstores.
#9 Dune: Awakening, by Funcom
Do you have the Dune novels by Frank Herbert or did you discover him through the excellent diptych by Denis Villeneuve? Good news, you'll be able to dive into the open-world multiplayer survival game Dune: Awakening this June. Be careful though! The game takes place in a parallel reality in which Lady Jessica obeyed the Bene Gesserit and gave birth to a daughter; which implies that Paul Atreides never existed. Released on Windows on June 10, 2025. #10 Dragons, by Dean DeBlois While Disney is adapting its greatest animated classics into live-action films, DreamWorks and Universal Pictures seem to have decided to do the same. Thus, the animated film How to Train Your Dragon will soon be the subject of a live-action adaptation, directed by Dean DeBlois - the director of the original film. Let's see if it's worth it!
Theatrical release on June 11, 2025.
#11 The Life of Chuck, by Mike Flanagan
Since The Haunting of Hill House, director and screenwriter Mike Flanagan has proven himself to be the most worthy heir to the master of horror fiction: Stephen King. The filmmaker had already adapted the novelist twice, with Jessie and Doctor Sleep. But it was especially in his own stories that the comparison with King was most obvious. With The Life of Chuck, Flanagan abandons fear to adapt a more melancholic novel by the author of The Shining and Salem. The film received early reviews that were often rave. (Note that Mike Flanagan, who wrote the screenplay for DC Comics' Clayface, is also working on an adaptation of Stephen King's fantasy series The Dark Tower for Amazon Prime Video.)
Theatrical release June 11, 2025.
#12 28 Days Later, by Danny Boyle
The director of Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire finally returns to theaters with 28 Days Later, the third installment in the saga he launched in 2002 with 28 Days Later. The film also marks the return of English screenwriter Alex Garland, recently chosen to direct Alex Garland's film Elden Ring. As big fans of post-apocalyptic fiction, our anticipation is at its peak!
Theatrical release June 18, 2025.
#13 Elio, from Pixar studio
Several months after the triumph of Inside Out 2, which for a few weeks was the biggest box office success for an animated film, the iconic Pixar studio will unveil its new original feature film this month. Elio tells the story of a young boy who finds himself in a bad place on Earth and who becomes our planet's ambassador to an extraterrestrial confederation. Directed by Adrian Molina (co-director of Coco) and Domee Shi (director of Red Alert), Elio could well be a pleasant surprise. As always with Pixar, we can expect great work!
Theatrical release June 18, 2025.
#14 Kneecap, by Rich Peppiatt
Telling the story of the beginnings and commitment of the Northern Irish hip-hop group Kneecap, this musical biopic, a cross between 8 Mile and Trainspotting, has generated strong reactions at all the international festivals where it has been presented. Both funny and committed, this wildly energetic comedy is inspired by true events. The members of the Belfast trio participated in writing the screenplay, and have proven to be excellent actors. A must-see!
Released in theaters on June 18, 2025.
#15 The Gilded Age (season 3), by Julian Fellowes
After the immense success of the British series Downton Abbey, English screenwriter Julian Fellowes has teamed up with the legendary cable channel HBO to write the series The Gilded Age. This time, discover the morals, codes, and rivalries of late 19th-century New York high society through this beautifully orchestrated period series, which returns for a third season.
Planned for launch on Max on June 23, 2025.
#16 Ironheart, by Chinaka Hodge
Is the Marvel Cinematic Universe finally starting to pick itself up after several years of wandering? This is in any case what we are hoping for from both the very enjoyable Thunderbolts* (renamed The New Avengers), despite its relative commercial failure, and the upcoming release of the film Fantastic Four: First Steps. The series Ironheart, which will follow the confrontation between Riri Williams - introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as Tony Stark's successor - and The Hood, will have to show us whether or not we are right to hope for an MCU return!
Planned to launch on Disney+ on June 25, 2025.
#17 The Bear (season 4), by Christopher Storer
One of the most popular series of the decade, the dramedy The Bear will return this month with a highly anticipated season 4. Fans are eager to discover the continuation of the unresolved plot lines, including the tensions surrounding Camy, Sydney, and Richie, as well as the restaurant's uncertain future in the face of a crucial review. Good news for binge-watchers, as all ten episodes of this new season will be available on the same day.
Release scheduled for June 26, 2025 on Disney+.
#18 Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, by Hideo Kojima
Six years after the first Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima is preparing to plunge us back into his post-apocalyptic world. Of course, fans of the famous Japanese video game director are eager to discover the new discoveries of the creator of Metal Gear Solid. How will Kojima manage to revolutionize gameplay and further blur the lines between video games and cinema? The answer this month!

#19 Persona 5: The Phantom X, from Atlus
Selling over 22 million copies, Persona 5 was a huge global hit and won over JRPG fans. This month, fans of the franchise will be able to discover the spin-off Persona 5: The Phantom X, centered on new protagonists, Wonder and Lufel, as well as a new team of Thieves of Hearts. Other iconic characters like Joker will also be present. Despite our reservations about its gacha model, the first feedback from the Asian beta is exciting!
Release scheduled for PC and mobile on June 26, 2025.
#20 Squid Game (season 3), by Hwang Dong-hyuk
Launched with great fanfare in 2021, the series Squid Game will make its big comeback this June 2025 with a third and final season, supposed to conclude the show. South Korean screenwriter Hwang Dong-hyuk has also promised a final season with new games and even more surprising twists than in season 2.
