This Marvel character should be the leader of the Midnight Sons

Where are we with the Midnight Sons project? Well, it's a thorny subject since things seem to be moving slowly. For several months, Blade has been designated as the obvious leader of this new team. But recently, there have been rumors that another iconic comic book figure could be the leader of this mystical team.

Who are the Midnight Sons?

Created in the 1990s, the Midnight Sons is a team specialized in dealing with occult threats. They often face demonic threats like vampires or spirits. Many characters have been members of the Midnight Sons, such as Ghost Rider, Blade, Dr. Strange, Morbius, Hellstrom, Man-Thing, and Moon Knight.

This Marvel character should be the leader of the Midnight Sons

A Midnight Sons project has been in the works at Marvel Studios for several months now. But it's a controversial topic, as this upcoming film already seems shaky. Never really made official and often canceled, we don't really know where the Midnight Sons project stands. Recently, Daniel Ritchman confirmed that the Midnight Sons project has been revived, with filmmaker Michael Giacchino at the helm. He directed Werewolf by Night, a Marvel Studios Special Presentation production that focused on the Werewolf and Man-Thing, two characters who would have a place in Midnight Sons.

A new Marvel leader to lead the Midnight Sons

For the moment, some characters from Midnight Sons have already been introduced in the MCU. Dr. Strange is obviously a recurring character in the MCU. Moon Knight had his own series but has been long overdue since then. A Midnight Sons project would be a good way to recycle it. Blade was featured in a cameo voice at the end of Eternals. Man-Thing was in Werewolf by Night. Morbius is in the Sony universe. Hellstrom had his own series under the Marvel Television banner. Finally, officially, Ghost Rider was introduced in the Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. series as Robbie Reyes. In itself, a Midnight Sons project would be a good way to clarify the position of all these characters. At the moment, Marvel Studios doesn't seem to know what to do with these dark characters, and how to integrate them into the rest of the Marvel Universe. But a Midnight Sons movie could give them more visibility. It would perhaps be a way to cast another actor in the role of Ghost Rider, officially introduce Mahershala Ali as Blade, and finally give Oscar Isaac a second chance to shine as Moon Knight. According to Daniel Richtman, the Midnight Sons project has been revived internally by Marvel Studios. The influencer believes that, ultimately, Blade will not lead this team, but that it will be led by Ghost Rider. This implies that Dr. Strange will not be part of this team, since he was the designated leader to lead the Midnight Sons.

A revelation that implies that Marvel Studios has big plans for the Spirit of Vengeance. It is rumored that Ghost Rider will also be in the next two Avengers. Good news for fans of the fiery rider. Now it remains to be seen which characters will be featured in this version of Midnight Sons. We are opting for a combination composed of Ghost Rider, Werewolf, Man-Thing, Blade and Moon Knight. So, to be continued.
