This Star Wars scene was erased from official history

Star Wars fans are particularly detail-oriented. It's no wonder that the disappearance of certain iconic scenes from the original story isn't always welcome. This is particularly the case with this unforgettable moment between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

A relationship that is at the heart of the saga

In Star Wars, a Jedi has the duty to teach his apprentice. He passes on his knowledge, his doubts, and his hopes. The same goes for his apprentice. Obi-Wan Kenobi inherited Anakin Skywalker not by choice but out of loyalty to his master, Qui-Gon Jinn. Initially, the two men seemed to have opposing views. Obi-Wan was always calculated and cautious, while Anakin usually charged ahead without much thought. But over time and through hardship, they developed a strong brotherhood. This bond makes their final confrontation in Revenge of the Sith all the more tragic. As a reminder, even before the animated series The Clone Wars (2008) was released, Star Wars had already explored the Clone Wars in another project. It was a micro-series called Clone Wars, created by Genndy Tartakovsky, who is also behind Samurai Jack.

Aired between 2003 and 2005, this series linked Attack of the Clones to Revenge of the Sith. It is in this series that the forgotten scene is found, but nevertheless adored by fans.

In one episode, in fact, the Republic Troops find themselves stuck in the trenches and were beginning to weaken. Obi-Wan was particularly tired and tense when Anakin returned with insects he had stolen while sneaking into the enemy camp. In doing so, he also discovered a passage that can change the outcome of the battle. Obi-Wan says nothing, but he smiles because he understands that Anakin has become a Jedi.

So why was this scene deleted from canon?

In a nutshell, it's because of a restructuring. For the record, Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012. The company then decided to completely reorganize the Star Wars canon.

And to avoid contradictions, it erased the entire old extended universe in one go: novels, games, comics, series... Unfortunately, the Clone Wars series (2003) did not survive this purge. It was replaced by The Clone Wars (2008), created by Dave Filoni. This series is longer, more developed, and above all, perfectly integrated into the new canon.

But fans have never forgotten it. Recently, in fact, user Kalil Diaz published a video featuring the exact audio from the TikTok scene. Here are some examples of comments:

"You see all the love between them, without a word being necessary."

"Why erase that from canon? It was perfect!"

So, everything that wasn't directly related to the films or projects approved by Lucasfilm became what we now call "the legends".
