Microsoft is using the end of Windows 10 support and the associated security risks to advertise.

To force the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11, Microsoft is having fun scaring us

Since the release of Windows 11, Microsoft has been doing everything it can to encourage users to upgrade to the new version and abandon Windows 10. The publisher has been increasingly pushy lately, with, for example, ads in full screen to buy a PC running Windows 11, as we approach the end of official support for Windows 10, scheduled for October 14, 2025.

The company's latest attempt to get us to switch to Windows 11 is to play on our fears. It has just published a video on its YouTube channel urging us to go "on the right side" and "avoid the risks". "Upgrade now to the power of Windows 11 Pro PCs with Intel vPro", displays this disguised advertisement, under the guise of informing about security issues by staying with Windows 10.

Windows 10 soon to be obsolete, a selling point for recent PCs

Internet users are not mistaken, and pin this Microsoft campaign in the video's comments. “Using the end of support for your old operating system as a selling point for your new one is insane,” one of them said, a message that became the most liked in the video.

More angry comments can be read. For one of them, “TPM doesn’t even reduce the risks/damage associated with malware.” The TMP 2.0 chip is precisely the component that prevents many devices from being updated to Windows 11. This hardware restriction would force users, or even businesses and administrations that no longer want to use a Windows 10 PC without security patches, to invest in new computers with Windows 11.

For the recalcitrant, Microsoft will still launch an extended security update program for Windows 10. Called ESU (Extended Security Updates), it allows you to pay 30 euros to continue receiving critical and important security updates for this version. This does not include new features, bug fixes, or technical support.
