Presented for the first time at last year's Xbox Games Showcase as part of the previous edition of the SGF, Wuchang Fallen Feathers made a strong impression. This new souls-like, deeply rooted in Chinese folklore, had confirmed its presence before Summer Game Fest 2025, and it is now presented in a particularly convincing new trailer, ahead of its release on July 24.
Wuchang Fallen Feathers shows its feathers again before its release
After Black Myth Wukong, the succession of big-budget Chinese games seems assured by many promising upcoming titles. For the moment, it is Wuchang Fallen Feathers that is capturing the public's attention. In any case, it is more embracing the sub-like genre, or one could even say soulsborne. It borrows many elements from the iconic Bloodborne, notably encouraging more aggressive gameplay. However, mastering dodging and parrying will be essential to survive in this mythological version of the Ming Dynasty era (1368-1644).
We play as a young warrior suffering from an affliction that slowly consumes her and transforms her into a yaoi-guai (monsters from Chinese folklore). Wuchang Fallen Feathers will therefore offer us particularly epic fights, notably against spectacular bosses, with the possibility of letting the monster that lies dormant in our character speak.
In addition to convincing gameplay on paper, Wuchang Fallen Feathers can also count on enticing artistic direction and a high-flying soundtrack. This is therefore a new Chinese title to keep a close eye on. In any case, you won't have to wait long to try it out, since it's coming out on July 24th on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Xbox Game Pass.
