Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Gets a New Update, Here's What's New

Last March, Xenoblade Chronicles made its grand return to Nintendo Switch with Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, which allowed players to dive back into what was then one of the last great forgotten titles of the Wii U. Now fully available on Nintendo's latest console, Monolith Soft's franchise seems ready to look towards its future. But not without one last little look back before that, since against all expectations, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has just received a new update.

A new update for Xenoblade Chronicles 3

And the least we can say is that this one comes rather unexpectedly given that the title had not received the slightest patch for over a year now. But in reality, this is simply explained by the fact... that the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming. Because yes, that's the only point of this new update to Xenoblade Chronicles 3: to bring some comfort improvements to the experience for all users of Nintendo's next-gen machine.

"Several adjustments have been made to improve gameplay on the Nintendo Switch 2" can be read in the official patch notes. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide more details on the improvements in question, which must in fact be relatively minor. We can probably expect slightly improved visuals and better fluidity for a more pleasant handling. Note that this brings Xenoblade Chronicles 3 into version 2.2.1, compared to version 2.2.0 deployed in January 2024.

A version optimized for the Switch 2

As always, the update should automatically install if your console is programmed to do so. Otherwise, simply go to the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 page, press the "+" button, and finally select "Update software" to do it manually. Now you're ready to enjoy the best version of Aionios in the world, especially if you're playing it on Nintendo Switch 2. As a reminder, the console will be officially available tomorrow, and we were able to get our hands on it ahead of its release.
