A real mountain bike manufacturer will integrate the overpowered DJI electric motor

A real mountain bike manufacturer will integrate the overpowered DJI electric motor

The undisputed and undisputed master of the drone market for several years, DJI has decided to tackle another sector since this summer that is much denser but also already structured: the electric bicycle. After unveiling its first engine in July on a bicycle that we had little hope of ever seeing in France, the Chinese manufacturer has just taken a major step in its conquest of the bicycle market. Indeed, DJI has found a credible partner to integrate its extraordinary engine into one of its bicycles. The motor already powers the Amflow PL Carbon, but this time, it is a company of a completely different scale that DJI has managed to attract.

The Avinox system seems to be made for mountain biking, so it is no surprise that it is a manufacturer specializing in "all-terrain" that has once again approached DJI. Indeed, the latest manufacturer to integrate an Avinox motor should be the Canadian Forbidden. The partnership was made official by a simple publication on Instagram, a "story", from the founder of the brand, in which a Forbidden mountain bike appears equipped with a DJI motor.

DJI attracts potential partners

Since its officialization in July, the Avinox Drive motor has been the talk of the town. It must be said that with its exceptional technical specifications, DJI's motor has something to seduce, especially mountain bike manufacturers. 105 Nm of torque and 850 W of power, or even 120 Nm of torque and 1000 W peak in Boost mode, these are values that will make lovers of steep trails salivate.

Demonstrated at the Eurobike show this summer, it wowed a lot of observers, some of whom are ready to swear that such a motorization could shake up the market, in other words: disrupt the very quiet domination of Bosch.

However, the path to imposing itself still seemed a little long, especially because DJI only had a relatively confidential partner Amflow to demonstrate the extent of its know-how.

The arrival of a second ambassador in DJI's clutches and the many rumors that confirm that many other manufacturers seem at least interested in talking with the Chinese manufacturer, confirm that in 2025 the Avinox should be deployed on many more models and perhaps available in France.

Forbidden: small brand, big reputation

Finally, in addition to having one more partner, it is the identity of the second bike to be equipped with an Avinox that adds credibility to DJI's solution. Forbidden is known for having a fairly original, but very demanding mountain bike design, especially in terms of shock absorption. Until now, the brand's engineers only had a handful of mountain bikes in the catalog, but none of them were equipped with a motor and a battery. That Forbidden founder Owen Pemberton announced that the brand's future had arrived by showing a mountain bike bearing the DJI logo is anything but trivial. It shows that Forbidden has finally found a motor worthy of the name, capable of tipping the brand into the electric era.
