Apple introduces the certification of calls and emails for companies with Business Connect

Apple’s recent update to Business Connect heralds a new era of authenticated communication for businesses. The feature aims to drastically reduce phishing and fraudulent communications by allowing businesses to verify their phone numbers and email addresses. The system, available in several Apple apps, allows physical and online business owners to display their logo during phone calls and emails.

A Step Toward Certified Visual Identification

Since last year, Apple has allowed businesses to customize their business profiles in Mail, Maps, and even Wallet, by adding photos, logos, and promotions. This initiative has already been a great success with entrepreneurs looking to strengthen their brand image. The proposed new feature goes even further by allowing businesses to certify their communications via a verified logo, appearing directly on the screen of iPhone users.

These new options are not only aesthetic; They also promise greater security by reassuring customers about the authenticity of the messages received. Interested companies must register via Business Connect, a dedicated Apple portal that consolidates these services. Any business, whether or not it has a physical address, can benefit from this new feature to manage its digital presence.

Anti-fraud tools integrated into everyday life

Under the new system unveiled by Apple, emails sent from verified addresses will now display a specific logo, attesting to the legitimacy of the sender. The same goes for phone calls made with Apple's Phone application, thanks to the technology called "Business Caller ID" which will be deployed in 2025.

This technology empowers companies while protecting consumers against the growing risks of cyberattacks. For example, a call from SFR customer service could soon be accompanied by the operator’s official logo and indicate “Mobile customer service”. This clarity would allow users to effectively filter fake calls and significantly reduce the risk of telephone fraud.

Planning and expanding visual authentication

In an increasingly connected world where online fraud represents a growing threat, Apple’s response comes at the right time. Other updates also allow program members to use their logo during Tap to Pay transactions, transforming any iPhone into a secure payment terminal. While this feature is currently being developed in physical stores, the company is considering its future expansion to digital platforms.

In addition, with businesses validated by Apple, they can assure their customers that all public information shared – such as a store’s location, hours, or promotions – is current and reliable. This increased transparency should attract consumer confidence, especially with the visual guarantee made possible by certified logos.

Towards mass adoption in France and elsewhere

While many international markets will adopt this new system very soon, the hope remains that it will be quickly and largely accepted in France. The main objective is to create a standard where each company will play the certification game, making phishing attempts difficult.

Government services will also be affected by this measure. Eventually, an email from an administration could display the logo of the French Republic, thus immediately distinguishing official messages from often tempting but malicious phishing attempts. This provision thus contributes to a general fight against digital crime deemed urgent on a global scale.

Anticipated effects and economic ramifications

This deployment strategy fits perfectly into Apple's long-term vision of increasing security layers while improving the user experience. By creating a better-designed trusting environment, this consequential system will undoubtedly influence the daily interaction and satisfaction of users with digital services.

For example, the widespread use of the Apple logo for secure transactions will give small businesses a certain credibility and visibility that they would not have been able to achieve otherwise.
