Apple Vision Pro: What are the available video games?

For a few days now, the Apple Vision Pro augmented reality headset has been available on the market. It is particularly talked about, as many users decide to wear it on the street, on public transport or even to drive with it. Although it is used in everyday tasks, it is also an accessory focused on video games. Apple tends to catch up in this area by promising its customers the possibility of playing optimized mobile games, but also some augmented reality or virtual reality games. What titles are available on the platform when the Vision Pro is launched?

Apple Arcade as the flagship

From the moment it was announced, we knew that Apple's headset could feature the Apple Arcade service, its catalog of on-demand mobile games. 100 games were then announced as compatible. Now that the device is out, Apple is backtracking on its statements and specifying that more than 250 games are playable on the Vision Pro via Apple Arcade. Among the service's blockbusters, we note the presence of NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition, Sonic Dream Team, and TMNT Splintered Fate.

All of these titles are mobile games, which means that they will be displayed on the Vision Pro as if you had a giant phone screen in front of your eyes. The good news is that, like on the iPhone, home console controllers are compatible with the headset. It is therefore possible to link your DualSense or your Xbox controller to it.

No real virtual reality for now

Apple is not stopping there. In addition to these games, the company announces that productions dedicated to the Vision Pro will also be added. They offer a more immersive experience and are specially designed for use in augmented reality. The company mentions the following opus: Synth Riders, LEGO Builder's Journey but also the classic Super Fruit Ninja.

But then what about VR? For the moment, none of the big virtual reality games that we would have liked to see have been announced. The Vision Pro therefore has nothing comparable in terms of video games compared to its competitors. If many would have liked Switching from the Meta Quest headsets to Apple's, it seems that a lot of features are not implemented.

From early reviews, the Vision pro seems to be more of a headset dedicated to work, productivity and multitasking, which is why the pure video game aspect is more or less left aside. However, it will delight anyone who plays puzzle games, arcade games or even the few AAA games available on Apple Arcade.
