The moment that strategy fans have been waiting for is finally here. Today marks the beginning of a great adventure for thousands of players around the world. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is available on multiple platforms. After being presented at trade shows, but also after being revealed through several trailers, the strategy game opens its servers and invites you to dive into a new, but familiar, historical adventure.
The latest installment in the famous turn-based strategy game series, developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K, promises to bring significant innovations while retaining the essence that made the franchise successful. But what can fans really expect?
What's new, Doctor?
Among the major new features ofCivilization VII, the separation between leaders and civilizations allows players to create new combinations, offering unprecedented strategic depth. For example, it is possible to choose a historical leader and associate him with a different civilization, opening the way to various synergies.
The game also introduces three distinct eras: Antiquity, the Age of Discovery and the Modern Era. These periods evolve simultaneously for all civilizations, forcing players to continually adapt to changes and rethink their strategies. Each era offers new civilizations and challenges to spice up the game a little.
The “Legacy Roads” are another notable innovation. Based on scientific, cultural, military and economic objectives, they offer a structure divided into dynamic parts, allowing players to plan their progression according to their wishes.
City management has finally been redesigned, with the elimination of builder units in favor of direct management of tiles and their improvements. New settlements start as villages and can be upgraded to cities by investing resources, adding an extra layer of strategy to the development of one's empire.
