It's Capcom's turn to present its program for the coming months. As the launch of Monster Hunter: Wilds approaches – expected on February 28 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC – the studio has decided to organize two conferences. The meeting is set for February 4, 2025 at 11 p.m. (French time) with the broadcast of a Capcom Spolight of around twenty minutes, followed by an equally long showcase dedicated to to the new Monster Hunter installment.
The first part will be an opportunity for Capcom to revisit one of its latest major announcements, namely the famous Onimusha Way of the Sword. The rest of the conference will focus on the compilations Capcom Fighting Collection 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. However, the majority spectators will certainly have their eyes glued to the presentation of the highly anticipated Monster Hunter: Wilds.
Details of the showcase have not yet been revealed, but this segment should focus on the deployment of the last phases of open beta – scheduled for February 7 to 10, then February 14 to 17 – as well as on final surprises concerning the final version of the title. This release promises to be crucial for Capcom, since the hype around the franchise exceeds heights never reached before.
Monster Hunter Wilds already marks a major record
Less than a month after its launch, the new part of the cult license is already shaping up to be a global success. Indeed, Monster Hunter: Wilds has become the most desired title on Steam, even surpassing the hero-shooter Deadlock and the famous Hollow Knight: Silksong. Faced with such enthusiasm, Capcom will not have the right to make a mistake. But the first beta tests are far from conclusive. While next-gen consoles seemed to be pushed to their limits in an attempt to support the ambitious open world, PC gamers were sent to the mat.
Even the best configurations suffered from the title's lack of optimization. The next beta tests will not be representative of a possible improvement of the situation, since the build used will be identical to the first. The performance gains will be discovered with the final version, which already promises to reduce the minimum configuration requirements. Verdict at the end of the month.
