Since December, ChatGPT has been accessible via WhatsApp, allowing users to chat with the artificial intelligence directly from Meta's messaging app. OpenAI is taking it a step further with support for images and voice messages.
ChatGPT is stepping up its game on WhatsApp
Confirmed by OpenAI on X, this new feature allows users to interact with ChatGPT in a more natural way. To ask a question in an image or voice message, simply call the American number 1-800-242-8478 on WhatsApp (also works from France). This will make AI easier to access for a wider audience, without the need to install a specific application.
This new feature joins a series of improvements designed to make ChatGPT more accessible. In December, OpenAI had already launched a dedicated telephone line for American users, allowing them to call the AI in the absence of an Internet connection. This line uses the same number as the initial WhatsApp integration.
New features in the works
OpenAI continues to develop ChatGPT to offer new options. Among them, the “Tasks” feature, which transforms the chatbot into a task manager capable of offering reminders. The latter is still in the testing phase. The company also plans to improve the integration with WhatsApp by soon allowing users to link their OpenAI account to the messaging application. This possibility will be offered to subscribers of the Free, Plus and Pro plans.
After the release of ChatGPT’s search engine to compete with Google, OpenAI is making great strides to make its tools available to as many people as possible. By integrating very popular applications like WhatsApp without requiring additional installation, the American company intends to counter Gemini, which is integrated into more and more Android smartphones by Google.
