EA has just given the best gift for fans of the Sims (but it is expensive)

On February 4th, The Sims series will celebrate its 25th anniversary. For this occasion, Electronic Arts and Maxis (the developers) took advantage of an exceptional 25-hour LIVE to celebrate this anniversary and reveal many surprises. Among these surprises, the announcement of a board game The Sims, but also a re-edition of The Sims (2000) and The Sims 2 (2004) in a complete version with all the original DLC!

The Sims and The Sims 2 are back

EA has just given the best gift for fans of the Sims (but it is expensive)

Announced by the media Kotaku, then confirmed by EA Games, the game The Sims, the first installment of the legendary saga released in 2000 on PC and The Sims 2, its 2004 sequel will be entitled to a re-release on PC this weekend! Too bad all the same, At a time when many were hoping for a remaster or, outright, a remake (extremely unlikely), it will only be a simple port of the original games, bugs included.

In any case, The Sims and The Sims 2 will make their big comeback at the end of the week in a complete version bringing together all the original DLC released on both titles. We also don't know if a console re-release is in the works or not.

What's included?

  • The Sims 25th Anniversary Pack, retailing for $39.99, will be available on Windows 10 and 11 via the EA app, the Epic Games Store, and Steam. It includes: both The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection.
  • The Sims: Legacy Collection includes the original The Sims game, plus the following expansion packs: The Sims: Change Your Life, The Sims: Party, The Sims: Get It On, The Sims: Vacation, The Sims: Cats and Dogs, The Sims: Superstar, The Sims: Abracadabra, and The Sims 4 Retro Look Kit
  • The Sims 2: Legacy Collection includes The Sims 2 base game and a large collection of expansion packs and items, including: The Sims 2: Academy, The Sims 2: Nightlife, The Sims 2: The Good Deal, The Sims 2: Pets & Co., The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, The Sims 2: Seasons, The Sims 2: Free Time, The Sims 2: Apartment Living, The Sims 2 Christmas Edition, The Sims 2: Family Fun, The Sims 2: Glamour, The Sims 2: Merry Christmas!, The Sims 2: Holiday!, The Sims 2: H&M Fashion, The Sims 2: Teen Essentials, The Sims 2: Kitchen & Bathroom Design, The Sims 2: Dream Homes and the Grunge Revival Kit.

Until At present, it was impossible to play The Sims and The Sims 2. The only way to play was to own the original games on disc. The Sims was never offered in digital form and The Sims 2 was removed from digital platforms in 2014 when The Sims 4 was released. EA's announcement therefore sounds like a nice surprise for fans and a good way to play with nostalgia. However, you will have to pay around forty euros to restart a game.
