New xreal glasses: virtual screens for almost all devices

Unlike the Air 2 Ultra glasses introduced earlier this year, the new One and One Pro models from Xreal are limited to screen mirroring — but simply plug them into any device with a video output into the USB-C port to display their screens on the glasses.

Compatible with a maximum of devices

As a result, iPhones, some Android smartphones, the Steam Deck, PCs and Macs are able to display themselves on a large virtual surface on the small 0.68-inch micro-OLED displays made by Sony. Their resolution doesn’t reach that of the Vision Pro’s screens (1920×1080 versus 3660×3200), but these glasses are also nearly ten times cheaper than Apple’s headset.

The display area in front of each eye is equivalent to 1080p, with a 50-degree field of vision and a display 20% larger than that of the Xreal Air 2 (up to 147 inches). The Pro model offers a wider field of view of 57 degrees. As for the display frequency, it is 120Hz, with a latency of 3 ms. The brightness is 600 nits.

The One and One Pro glasses also support three degrees of movement, in other words rotation around the X (tilt the head up or down), Y (turn the head from right to left) and Z (tilt the head sideways) axes. The physical movements of the user in space are therefore not supported, which would require 6 degrees of movement.

This is nevertheless enough to watch a movie or work in front of a virtual screen sitting on a chair! Xreal has developed an X1 chip that provides the calculations necessary for high-frequency display with the lowest possible latency. Audio feedback is provided by speakers branded Sound by Bose. And you can connect a small module containing a 12 MP photo sensor.

These glasses, weighing 84 grams, also work with the Beam Pro case (optional) which acts as a mini-pocket computer to display and use applications. The prices are €549 for the One, and $649 for the One Pro. First deliveries will begin mid-December.
