The Nintendo Switch is one of the most widely used portable consoles on the go. Its hybrid format and comfortable handling make it one of the best platforms to have on vacation, on the go, or at home, snug in bed. But things get complicated once you're away from home. Indeed, Nintendo Switch players very often find themselves going to places without Wi-Fi access.
A situation that can be easily resolved by sharing the connection via a smartphone, for example. But this scenario is often undermined by a major flaw in the console, which does not recognize all the wireless access points nearby. Some classic Wi-Fi connections, in hotels for example, are also undermined by a bug that prevents the console from recognizing them or connecting to them. This problem will soon become a bad memory.
A bug finally corrected
Nintendo announces that the new update of its machine finally fixes this problem after many months of wandering. In reality, this bug concerns certain specific devices, with strict security settings. In addition to correcting this problem, the update Update 18.0.1 brings a few routine patches, improving the overall user experience on the console. In its note, Nintendo details all of the new features:
- Fixed an issue where some wireless access points could not be found when setting up a new wireless network.
- If you are unable to update to version 18.0.1 due to this issue, temporarily change the security settings of your wireless network to use only “WPA2 (AES)” so that you can connect wirelessly to download and install the system update.
- After updating to version 18.0.1, restore your network security settings.
General system stability improvements to improve the user experience.
Available now
This update update is available for all Nintendo Switch models, from the classic version, to the OLED range, including the small Lite. When you start the console, it will ask you to update it automatically. If this is not the case, try launching a game to trigger it. Finally, it is possible to check the status of your machine in the settings. This update will be necessary to access the Nintendo Switch online services.
