Amazon is not afraid of competition. Despite the existence of its own cloud gaming service Luna – launched in France last November – the e-commerce and entertainment giant is preparing to collaborate with one of the market leaders. The famous Xbox Cloud Gaming has become one of the most popular services among gamers. Its inclusion in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription (billed at €14.99 per month) has largely contributed to its democratization. In addition to being one of the best-stocked catalogs on the market, Game Pass can therefore be exported to all types of platforms. Smartphones, tablets, computers and even Samsung TVs: access to Microsoft's cloud gaming is certainly one of the most intuitive.
However, not all gamers have the ambition to invest in a high-end flat screen to enjoy Game Pass on TV. In order to overcome this limitation, a new low-cost alternative will allow access to games in the cloud from any screen. You will have probably understood: Amazon and Xbox are preparing to deploy a dedicated application on Fire TV devices. We explain how to prepare for the arrival of this service.
Only two compatible models
Xbox reveals that its application for Fire TV will be launched next July, without further details. Since this month begins in a few days, the date should not be long. The press release specifies, however, that the service will only be accessible to owners of Fire TV Stick 4K (69.99€) and 4K Max (79.99€). If you have a classic or Lite Fire TV Stick, you will therefore need to upgrade to the higher model to play Game Pass on your television.
Once equipped the right peripheral, the instructions are simple. All you have to do is log in to your Xbox account from the app. Subscribers can get started right away, while newcomers can subscribe directly from the interface. As for the controller, players will be spoiled for choice. All controllers equipped with Bluetooth technology will be able to connect to the TV Stick 4K.
So everyone is free to use their favorite accessory. Although it is recommended to use an Xbox controller for the distribution of buttons in the game, the DualSense, Dualshock 4 or even the Switch pro controller will all be compatible. Gamers with disabilities will also be able to use their adaptive controller, whether it is the Xbox or PlayStation.
