The Snake game, made famous by Nokia phones in the late 90s, is back in a revisited version thanks to Nothing. The London-based company is introducing its new interactive widget for Android via its Nothing Community Widgets application.
Snake returns to a Nothing widget
Nothing has launched an Android application called Nothing Community Widgets, one of the first features of which is a revisited version of the famous Snake game. This interactive widget is inspired by the original title, which came pre-installed on the Nokia 6110 in 1997. Back then, Snake was controlled via physical buttons, but this new version features touch controls to steer the snake, and a double tap to pause the game.
The premise remains the same: the player earns points by eating red pellets, while preventing the snake from biting its tail as it grows. The idea for the Snake widget came from Rahul Janardhanan, an artist who shared a series of concepts for Nothing OS widgets earlier this year. The company quickly noticed his work and collaborated with a developer from its community to bring the idea to life.
Nothing Community Projects
This initiative echoes other projects that Nothing has undertaken to engage its community. In October, the company launched a special edition of its Nothing Phone, the Phone 2a Plus Community Edition, incorporating design elements suggested by its users, such as a glow-in-the-dark back, new wallpapers, and unique packaging. With its Community Widgets application, Nothing is once again banking on this co-creation to offer features designed in partnership with its fans.
