This PlayStation exclusivity finally arrives on Xbox

Xbox has something to smile about. A former PlayStation exclusive will finally land on its platforms in a few months. It is Kena Bridge of Spirits, an adventure game with a mourning theme, released on September 21, 2021 on PS4 and PS5. After a long period of absence, the title finds a release date on Xbox consoles. Players will be able to discover it from August 15, and with a few surprises to boot.

A physical edition for those with a phobia of dematerialization

Kena Bridge of Spirits will be compatible with Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles and will also arrive in a physical version. For the occasion, Ember Lab announces that a Premium Edition will be available, with a gift specially designed for Xbox players. It should be noted that the Xbox Premium Edition is different from the PlayStation Deluxe version. Some bonuses are similar, while others are exclusive to your console.

Those who have already tried the controller on Kena bridge of Spirits know that the Rots are an important part of the game's story. The small characters with a look inspired by nature accompany you throughout your travels and even help you face the dangers that await you. As a reward for them, it is possible to make them wear hats and masks. Xbox players will be able to collect pirate hats for the Rots from August 15, a cosmetic item that PlayStation players do not have. The Premium Edition also includes:

  • Base game
  • Official digital soundtrack
  • Unique Kena Staff
  • Golden Rot skin
  • Exclusive sticker page for the physical version

Expanding catalogs

Almost 3 years after its initial release, Kena Bridge of Spirits is enjoying a well-deserved renaissance. Temporary exclusives usually last a year, so it's understandable that the original plan didn't necessarily include opening up to other platforms. This approach nevertheless makes sense in relation to the turn taken by Xbox in recent months.

Microsoft's platform tends to open up to competing consoles, offering some of its best games to a whole new audience. It therefore makes sense for it to wait for games from competing horizons to also land on Xbox. Kena Bridge of Spirits is not the first (temporary) PlayStation exclusive to receive this treatment, so the approach is nothing new, although it tends to become more widespread for third-party games.
