A few days ago, Hazelight, the Swedish studio founded and directed by Josef Fares, released its new title: Split Fiction. Already considered by many players as one of the contenders for the title of "game of the year", like It Takes Two, the studio's previous game, the title is a huge critical and commercial success, accumulating more than 2 million sales in one week and reaching a very nice MetaCritic score of 91%.
But, this success will not give any respite to the Hazelight teams who seem already working on the sequel and their next game.
Hazelight: After A Way Out, It Takes Two and Split Fiction, it's time for the sequel
After several years of development, Split Fiction was released on March 6th and already represents the best-received game and with the biggest success at its launch from Hazelight studio. Despite this rave success, Josef Fares and his teams do not intend to rest on their laurels. Interviewed by the YouTube channel "Skill Up" the director formalized the development of a new game:
After the story of Vincent and Léo, two friends who escape from prison in A Way Out. Then, the sensational couples therapy of Cody and May in It Takes Two. And lastly, Mio and Zoé's unique journey in Split Fiction, what will Hazelight's next game be about?
Alas, we'll have to be patient. Generally, the studio favors a culture of secrecy, working discreetly on their games, only to announce them at the last moment, just before their release. For Split Fiction, the game was unveiled on December 12, 2024, during The Game Awards. It was released three months later.
So we shouldn't expect concrete information on this new game for three or even four years. This will probably be on the next generation of consoles. Patience, everyone.
