Apple had remained very quiet in recent weeks. The Cupertino company had made headlines with the launch of the 11th generation iPad, as well as a new iPad Air. But since then, there has been total silence from Apple Park.
We didn't expect this calm to be disturbed until the beginning of June, and the annual WWDC. This major conference for developers from around the world was supposed to allow Apple to present its latest software innovations, notably iOS 19.
2 more features for the AirPods Max
But Apple surprised us. Out of nowhere, the apple brand published a press release yesterday. It announced the arrival of lossless audio on its AirPods Max. Apple's audio headset, launched for the first time in December 2020, has since become a benchmark in this sector.
It has only been updated once, at the end of last year, with the arrival of USB-C. The arrival of lossless audio and low latency has been a long-standing request from users. Apple has therefore granted their wishes, with the arrival of these features on the 579€ audio headset Apple.
A little more patience
In the press release published yesterday, Apple clarified things a little. The brand explained in particular that the new software features will not be available on all versions of the AirPods Max. Only recently produced headphones equipped with a USB-C charging port will be eligible for these options. For others, you will have to update or do without these features.
Another important clarification: both options will arrive with iOS 18.4. The Apple brand should release this update in a few weeks, and the general public is eagerly awaiting it. In France, the arrival of iOS 18.4 will mark the debut of Apple Intelligence.
Apple presents its lossless audio feature as follows:
"With this update, AirPods Max will benefit from 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio, preserving the integrity of the original recordings and allowing listeners to experience music as the artist intended it in the studio. Lossless audio also extends to Personalized spatial audio for a more precise, uncompressed, and immersive sound experience. Users can enjoy over 100 million songs in lossless audio with Apple Music.
In addition to lossless audio, Apple is adding low-latency to its AirPods Max. This new feature should allow gamers around the world to enjoy ultra-low-latency sound.
