Assassin’s Creed Shadows: despite controversies, pre -orders seem to be a great success

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: despite controversies, pre -orders seem to be a great success

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to launch next month, March 20, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC after two delays. Originally expected for November 2024, the title was delayed to February 2025, then to March to allow the teams to polish the title properly and offer players and fans the best possible experience.

Despite this, Ubisoft’s next game is still under fire from several (and numerous) criticisms and controversies, around the black character of Yasuka. Accusations from anti-woke critics who blame Ubisoft for putting too much emphasis on minorities. Or from some players who blame Ubisoft games for not being diverse enough in their content, with always the same flaws.

What if all this was just an illusion of social networks, which are increasingly toxic? And that the reality was very different? In its last quarterly report, Ubisoft in any case confirmed: that the pre-orders of Assassin’s Creed Shadows were very promising and among the top 3 biggest successes of the license.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows at the level of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: despite controversies, pre -orders seem to be a great success

Like many publishers, Ubisoft held its traditional quarterly report a few hours ago to take stock of the latest figures and discuss future projects and forecasts. The opportunity for the French company to discuss the hot topic of the moment: Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Still expected for March 20 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, Ubisoft announces that pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows are very encouraging to the point of reaching the same level as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, released in 2017 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. To this day, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is still the second biggest success in the history of the Assassin’s Creed license.

Ubisoft does not provide any further information, Yves Guillemot simply specifies that the pre-orders of the game “are following a good pace, similar to those of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the second most successful opus of the franchise”. Yves Guillemot adds that the first previews are very positive and reinforce the idea that the title is well-anticipated: "The first previews have been positive, praising the narration and the immersive experience, the two characters playing an essential role in the story of the game, as well as the quality and complementarity of the gameplay offered by the dual-protagonist approach. I would like to salute the incredible talent and dedication of the entire Assassin’s Creed team, who are working tirelessly to ensure that Shadows delivers on the promise of what is the franchise’s most ambitious entry to date.”

Take a look back in a little over a month to form your opinion on this title, hoping for the company and the many developers that the controversies over the networks will not be successful. Let’s also hope that the two postponements will have been useful and that the game will be in perfect condition.
