The car, a new platform for piloting drones?
Currently available only in China, the Lingyuan system is designed to be deployed on all models of the BYD group as well as its sub-brands. Two distinct versions are offered to meet the specific requirements of the manufacturer's different vehicle ranges.
The first, the LingYuan Battery Swap edition, is intended primarily for high-end YANGWANG models and integrates a DJI Mavic 3 drone. The second version, called Lingyuan Fast Charging, uses a customized DJI AIR 3S drone and mainly equips DENZA vehicles as well as certain BYD models.
This new system is distinguished by complete integration between the vehicle and the drone, thus offering a smooth and intuitive user experience. Its features include the world's first intelligent landing pad integrated into a vehicle, sophisticated drone positioning modules and high-resolution roof-mounted cameras. The device also enables dynamic takeoffs and landings at speeds of up to 25 km/h.
In addition, with simplified one-button control, the drone can automatically return to the vehicle from a distance of up to 2 km. An intelligent follow function also allows the drone to accompany the moving vehicle at speeds of up to 54 km/h. In addition, the built-in automatic fast charging allows the drone battery to go from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
To further facilitate the use by drivers, the Lingyuan system offers 30 preset shooting templates accompanied by intelligent algorithms that greatly simplify the capture of aerial images. The dedicated Lingyuan APP developed by BYD offers an intuitive interface that significantly reduces the technical barriers usually associated with the use of drones.
Another advantage of the system is its ultra-compact retractable helipad. Whether this "drone garage" is built directly into the roof for large vehicles or suspended just above it for smaller models, it ensures that the total height of the vehicle does not exceed 2.05 meters. This feature thus allows users to easily comply with common dimensional restrictions. In addition, this garage also integrates a complementary 4K wide-angle camera that works in tandem with the one on board the drone to offer unique dual-view video sequences.
