Users of Garmin fitness trackers will be able to subscribe to the manufacturer's new paid service. Connect+ combines several advanced features, such as customizable dashboards to compare the evolution of health and fitness data over different periods.
Garmin gives in to the AI trend
Subscribers will also be entitled to real-time display of current training data on their smartphone (heart rate, pace, exercise videos, repetitions, etc.). Also on the program, advanced training advice offering exclusive content such as videos made by in-house coaches (for running and cycling). Other functions: sending notifications to friends and family when an activity starts, and a personalized LiveTrack page share with its subscribers.
But what really catches the eye is the mention of Active Intelligence, which will continuously analyze and provide personalized advice based on health and activity data. Garmin gives very few details about this new feature, other than that it is powered by AI and will evolve over time.
Garmin joins the ranks of fitness tracking device manufacturers that leverage AI, such as Whoop, Strava, Samsung, Oura, and more. In fact, Apple is the only company left to lag behind in this area. But perhaps that will change; rumors occasionally suggest the development of an "AI coach" by the creator of the Apple Watch.
Garmin charges $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year for its new service. The first 30 days are free. It's important to note that the current free features remain free, including access to all data collected by the watches.
