Fitbit accounts: Migrez to Google or lose everything!

Fitbit accounts: Migrez to Google or lose everything!

Google is doing a favor to Fitbit users who have consistently refused to switch to a Google account. The disappearance of Fitbit accounts should have been confirmed this year, but the search engine has finally given a reprieve to the diehards: the deadline has been extended to February 2, 2026, as confirmed by Google in an email sent to these users.

Google gives a reprieve

Transferring a Fitbit account to a Google account allows you to keep all the data collected over the years on the Fitbit account. Another advantage highlighted by the company: only one Google login is required to manage connected apps and associated devices.

On the other hand, the last diehards who refuse the transition will have little to cry about after the fateful date. Google warns that "if you don't switch to a Google account before the deadline, you will no longer be able to use the Fitbit service." Furthermore, historical data will not be retained, and the account will be deleted outright. Suffice to say, we will gain from Go to this Google support page to learn more and make arrangements, if you don't want to lose everything.

On Android or iOS, the Fitbit app includes an option for account migration in the settings. It is also possible to download historical data from a Fitbit account to for backup purposes (here) or simply delete them (there).

In September 2022, one year after Google officially acquired Fitbit, the new owner launched the major transition maneuvers. Since the Pixel Watch 2 and the Fitbit Charge 6, new customers must link a Google account. This transfer of Fitbit accounts therefore only concerns the oldest users.
