Shooting a video, submitting it to Gemini for analysis, and getting related summaries or advice will soon be possible. Google is currently developing such a feature, which should prove very useful in many situations.
Gemini continues to progress. The media Android Authority has delved into the code of the latest beta version of the Google app (16.9.39.sa.arm64) and found lines mentioning a very interesting new feature: the ability to upload videos to conversations for the AI to analyze.
Android Authority managed to enable this feature and submit videos to Gemini, but was unable to get it to analyze them, probably because this new feature is still under development, or because another upcoming model for Gemini will be in charge of analyzing the videos. Currently, the AI assistant is able to analyze web pages, images, PDFs, and videos published on YouTube.
Gemini will save you precious time
We don't know yet if Google plans to impose length or file size limits. This will undoubtedly be the case, at least on the free version of Gemini. It's even possible that initially, this feature will be exclusive to Gemini Unlimited subscribers only.
The applications we can think of are in any case as numerous as they are useful. Filming a lecture or conference and submitting the video to Gemini could allow you to quickly obtain a summary, for example. If you have a problem with a device, assembling furniture, a cooking recipe, or anything else, you could ask Gemini for help by illustrating the problem with a video to get more relevant answers. You could also imagine Gemini analyzing surveillance footage to easily identify important moments, or asking the chatbot for advice on improving a video for posting on social media.
Uploading videos to Gemini should arrive in the coming weeks or months. On Android, Google is also testing suggestions to help with Start a conversation with Gemini.
