This week, God of War will celebrate its 20th anniversary. Indeed, it was on March 22, 2005 that Kratos arrived on PS2 with the first game in the saga. While the first events were announced a few days ago, Sony, PlayStation, and Santa Monica are revealing the digital bonuses coming to the game God of War Ragnarök with a name that sounds like a tease.
The "Black Odyssey Collection" March 20th on God of War Ragnarök
For several months now, a rumor has suggested that a collection of the first God of War games on PS2 (the Greek era) could return to PS5 in a Remastered version or even a Remake. According to the latest rumors, this compilation should be announced this month.
Instead, PlayStation and Santa Monica have just gently trolled fans by announcing "Black Odyssey Collection". However, this collection will not offer you games, but only digital cosmetic bonuses that will be available for free from March 20th on the game God of War Ragnarök. This pack includes:
- The Black Odyssey skin for Kratos
- A Black Odyssey armor set for Kratos (Black Odyssey chestplate, Black Odyssey bracers, and Black Odyssey belt)
- A Black Odyssey garment for Atreus
- A Black Odyssey sorceress robe for Freya
- The Black Odyssey Leviathan axe (skin) and the Black Odyssey pommel (accessory)
- The Black Odyssey Chaos Blades (skin) and the Black Odyssey handles (accessory)
- The Draupnir spear Black Odyssey (skin) and the Black Odyssey heel (accessory)
- The Black Odyssey Guardian Shield (skin)
- The Black Odyssey Dauntless Shield (skin)
- The Black Odyssey Stonewall Shield (skin)
- The Black Odyssey Shattered Star Shield (skin)
- The Black Odyssey Offensive Shield (skin)
- The Black Odyssey Spartan Aspis Shield (skin)
- The Black Odyssey Round
So, is this a way for Sony and Santa Monica to create false hope (or rather, disappointment) among fans? Will this compilation, or rather, collection of several God of War games, be announced this week? We'll be keeping an eye out.
