Google Lens can identify objects in a photo. With Live Video, this feature goes one step further: with the help of Gemini's multimodal capabilities, it will be possible to ask questions about a video captured live. The assistant can then recommend a color suitable for a pottery, or diagnose a problem with a vinyl turntable, as Google had demonstrated last year during Google I/O.
This feature, which allows you to search within a video, will be activated for Gemini Advanced subscribers later this month (the option is included in the €22 per month Google One AI Premium package).
Another new feature that will also be offered to these same subscribers: sharing screenshots with Gemini, also for the purpose of asking questions (and receiving answers!). These two functions are nothing new: ChatGPT's advanced voice has been offering the same thing since... the end of last year. However, it is not necessary to launch a dedicated application to use these functions, they are integrated into the Google Assistant.
