Google messages will soon offer an avalanche of information on your conversations

Google continues to gradually improve the formula of its Google Messages messaging service, even if it means copying the competition a little. In fact, the app could soon be equipped with a feature very popular on WhatsApp.

With the death of Samsung Messages, Google Messages has a free hand to take on the giant of mobile messaging, namely WhatsApp and its two billion users worldwide. around the world.

Even though there is still a long way to go before it takes the crown, Google continues to gradually improve the formula of its application. We are thinking, for example, of the modernization of the search system, the management of contact photos reviewed and corrected, the changes made to read receipts or even the possibility of deleting a message for everyone, for example. So many small additions that make Google Messages an increasingly serious alternative to WhatsApp and the like.

And of course, the Mountain View firm intends to continue on this path. Our colleagues at Android Authority had fun dissecting the APK files of the latest beta version of Google Messages. They discovered something new regarding the View details page.

Even more information about your messages

Currently, this option is available when you long-press on a message, then on the three small dots at the top right. Here, users can access some information about the message in question such as the type of message (RCS, MMS, SMS, etc.), the priority, the sender and recipient numbers and finally the dates/times of sending and receipt.

However, Google is therefore working on a more detailed version of the Show details option. To put it simply, the new version includes more information about participants such as their contact name or profile picture.

But above all, the tab will now list the people who received your message in a dedicated tab, and the people who read it in another. In a group conversation, this will be extremely practical for identifying the people who read you... And those who don't give a damn!

But that's not all. Google also plans to offer more options for quickly interacting with a contact. By tapping on their profile picture, you can trigger a call, send an SMS or display their detailed information. Without taking too many risks, these features should arrive soon in the global version of Google Messages.
