Since last night, it's official. Following a leak on social networks, Rockstar Games has released the first trailer for its first game, lifting the veil on its title, it is indeed Grand Theft Auto VI, aka GTA 6 for short.
In addition to the first sumptuous artwork and the first logo, we were treated to a one-minute and thirty-second trailer full of details, information, clues and references. We'll give you a recap of all this in this big file.

GTA 6: the story of Lucia... and a man
- GTA 6 will feature two characters, and for the first time a woman
- The woman, who seems to be the lead, is called Lucia
- The man, the second playable character, does not currently have an official name
In this first trailer largely focused on Lucia, we discover a woman who seems to have a serious character and who will stop at nothing. She is the one who takes the lead and seems to lead the couple. Officially, the male protagonist does not yet have a name. In the September 2022 leaks, it was confirmed that his name was Jason. But at no time is his first name mentioned in the trailer.
We can see on the main artwork of the game, and understand in the trailer that Lucia is in trouble with the law. This is justified by the electronic bracelet she wears on her foot, as well as by her interview with her probation officer in the trailer.
Welcome back to Vice City
- GTA VI will take place in Vice City, a city inspired by Miami
- Vice City will not be the only playground, it will be possible to discover a vast natural environment around the city
- The small islands and oceans also seem to be very much highlighted
This is only the third time in 25 years that the GTA license has ventured to Florida and in particular to Vice City (after GTA in 1997, GTA Vice City in 2002 and GTA Vice City Stories in 2006). And what can I say except that it is sublime and extremely representative of Florida? Between the city and its gigantic buildings as far as the eye can see, between the white sand beaches, the turquoise waters with the many islands, the Everglades... We can't wait to be there and take a vacation with Lucia... and this man!

UPDATE, MAY 2024
It's now official, Take Two announced during its last quarterly report that GTA 6 would be released in 2025 and more precisely for the fall of 2025. However, the publisher did not give more information.
GTA 6: a PC release planned, but not before 2027?
While we are still waiting for information about the console versions of GTA6, still expected for fall 2025, Strauss Zelnick mentioned the release of the PC version, but also next-gen versions (PS6/Xbox Prime) during an interview on the sidelines of Take Two's quarterly report in February 2025. The company's CEO does not rule out a release of GTA6 on new platforms, but specifies that Rockstar has always operated in the same way, giving priority to the most requested platforms and then offering ports on other media that are of interest to Take Two, such as PC and next-gen consoles.
In October 2024, it was Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar developer who stayed with the company for more than ten years, who specified that a PC version could arrive by spring 2027 if all plans do not change. The latter explained that in general, Rockstar games arrive between 9 and 15 months after the release of the original versions on consoles.
GTA VI: already world records
24 hours, that's how long it took GTA VI to break its first three world records with the release of its trailer. In a single day, Rockstar Games' video has made history with three records made official by Guinness World Records including:
- The most viewed video game reveal on YouTube in 24 hours, with 90,421,491 views in total (Alex told you about it here!)
- The most liked video game trailer (through thumbs up) on YouTube with, in the first 24 hours alone, a total of 8.9 million "likes"
- The most viewed non-music video on YouTube in 24 hours, surpassing the video of a certain MrBeast, who held this record with his video entitled "Every Country On Earth Fights For $250,000" which was in its first 24 hours at 59.4 million views.
GTA VI: a trailer with several hidden meanings?
According to many fan theories, the GTA VI trailer could have several reading directions and hide information about the game's story. In the "normal" direction of broadcast, it is possible to understand that Lucia has just been released from prison and that she decides to start her life as a criminal again by starting the robberies.
In the opposite direction, it is possible to understand that Lucia's life as a criminal is quickly stopped precisely by justice by being arrested and ending up in prison.
Other elements and reading directions can be understood through Rockstar's first trailer and fans continue to find new theories.
The animals of GTA VI
- The fauna and flora will be back in mass in GTA VI

- As in Red Dead Redemption II, Rockstar seems to have created an eco-system

We can see in the images that this eco-system seems to live, move, and hunt, promising us some pretty crazy interactions, like in Red Dead Redemption II.

- Lowriders integrated right from the game’s launch (GTA Online update)
What would GTA be without vehicles? This is the soul of the game. And that's why Rockstar is treating us to this point with more than a hundred vehicles in the game. The return has already been confirmed of iconic cars like the Cheetah Classic, the Obey Tailgater, the Sultan RS, the Vapid Dominator, with the Grotti Carbonizzare, la Pfister Comet S2 Cabrio or even the Declasse Tulip by Lucia and her friend.
On the motorcycle side, we're once again having a blast with the return of the legendary Sanchez motocross bike, the Double T sports bikes, and also the Nagasaki Blazer quads.
Planes and helicopters are back with the Sea Sparrow, the Dodo, the Maverick, and the seaplane.
And finally, to navigate between the islands, boats will be highlighted with the return of yachts, but also jet skis Seashark, the Jetmax, and much more!
GTA VI: the character Jason, would not be the man of the trailer
Still in the “fan theories” section, it seems that the male character who accompanies Lucia throughout her short adventure in the first trailer, might not be Jason, the second character seen during the leaks of September 2022.
Faced with a radical change in physique, a total absence of the mention of his first name, and his great set back in the trailer compared to Lucia, some fans are starting to think that this character may be a decoy on the part of Rockstar and that it is simply not Jason.
GTA 6 canceled? The €150 game? The game banned in France? Here are the best fake news!
A title as anticipated as GTA 6 is bound to get people talking and reacting. And a good number of fraudulent accounts on social networks, as well as unreliable sites, can seize the slightest opportunity to surf on rumors and fake news to dupe their audience. Here is a small anthology of the best fake news that are totally false!
- GTA 6 on PS4 and Xbox One
This is of course false. The game will only be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S (initially), then on PC later. The resources needed to develop the game will not allow for the release of PS4 and Xbox One versions.
- GTA 6 exclusive on PS5
This is also completely false. This fake news comes from the fact that Rockstar Games and Sony (PlayStation) have been in a commercial partnership since 2013. The only exclusivity on the PS5 could have would be cosmetics and items to unlock in the game, as was the case for Red Dead Online in 2019. In addition, Sony will have the exclusivity of displaying PS5 logos on the game's advertisements.
- GTA 6 canceled?
Again, this is totally absurd and false. This fake news was born from the concern of overly impatient fans who see weeks and months go by without any new communication from Rockstar Games. But to date, the game is in the final stages of development and will be released, sooner or later, on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
- GTA 6 at 150 euros?
On this point, it is (to date) fake news. The origin of the rumor comes from several statements from industry bosses such as Capcom, Sony or, precisely, Take Two who implied that some games are no longer profitable enough at 80 euros and that some titles deserve to be offered at 100 euros. Especially for games that aim to last for many years. Naturally, many accounts are trying to create a buzz by declaring that this will be the case for GTA6 and that the game could even cost up to 150 euros in its standard version! (always more).
- GTA 6 banned in France by Emmanuel Macron?
This is the latest totally absurd fake news that has been spreading for a few hours. It is once again totally false and some dishonest people are surfing on the buzz of the death of little Louise and the accusation of video games. President Macron thus condemned violent games. And, once again, many media and accounts on the networks jumped at the opportunity to spread the rumor that GTA6 was going to be banned in France. Which is totally false.
