Almost a year after its release, Hades II Early Access continues to expand with The Warsong Update, a major update that brings a host of new features and improvements. Between the new characters and the enrichment of the story, the game from Supergiant Games takes an important step.
Ares joins the battle
For example, we welcome a boss already present in the first title of the franchise. This is Ares, no more and no less than the final boss of the previous opus. The god of war from Greek mythology offers a range of bloody and powerful Boons, further reinforcing the diversity of possible combinations. Players will have to learn to master these new mechanics to maximize their potential in combat and meet the boss's demands.
However, he is only a major character here, without being the final confrontation of Hades II. For that, we will have to wait for version 1.0 which has still not been announced by the studio. He also warns that other updates, more and less important, are on the way.
A world that is always more alive
The game universe gains in richness with the addition of more than 2000 new lines of dialogue, reinforcing the immersion and depth of interactions with the characters. A new pet also makes its appearance, offering its precious help during combat.
The Altar of Ashes has also benefited from a visual and functional overhaul, with Arcane effects reworked for better readability and a wider variety of strategic options. Supergiant Games also took advantage of this update to refine several menu screens, thus offering smoother and more enjoyable navigation. The patch notes are available in their full version on Steam.
And after?
This update is accessible for free if you have invested in the base game in early access. For the moment, no paid DLC has been offered and this should not be the case at least until the game's final release. While The Warsong Update marks a major step forward, Supergiant Games has not yet said its last word. The developers are already working on the next major update that should bring new weapons in the form of Hidden Aspects, even more demanding boss fights and an extension of the main storyline.
