The superhero Moon Knight, who got his own series in 2022, is not dead. Marvel intends to bring him back to the forefront, except that it will not be in the form that fans are hoping for.
The Marvel stable is vast. While almost everyone knows Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Doctor Strange, there are many other superheroes, some of whom have had their own series. The idea is often to be able to subsequently incorporate the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2022, Moon Knight is broadcast on Disney+. Oscar Isaac lends his features to the vigilante dressed all in white and the result is rather convincing.
However, Moon Knight has since sunk into oblivion. Put to Apart from his voice in season 3 of the animated series What If?, we don't hear anything more about him. For a while, fans thought that a season 2 was in the works, but no. We have to wait until 2025 to address the question of Oscar Isaac's return to the MCU again and that's both good news and bad news.
Moon Knight is coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
During an interview, Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, reassured fans while clarifying an important point: “[…] I think Moon Knight came in a wave of shows establishing characters that would be linked to the future. And moving forward, our priorities have changed. We're creating shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a season 2 of Moon Knight, but there are plans for Moon Knight in the future.“
So the superhero will be back, except it won't be in a season 2 of the Moon Knight series. So this is bittersweet news for fans who were hoping that the character's future adventures would be centered around him. He will likely be integrated as a supporting character in another Marvel series, or in one of the upcoming films, Avengers: Secret Wars in particular. In theory, anyone can be eligible for a role on the team, whether as an official or supporting member.
