After Halo, then Fallout, and soon Minecraft, Microsoft does not intend to stop adapting video games into films and series. Although Halo is very far from having achieved a great success with its series, Fallout is a huge success. Phil Spencer recently confirmed that Microsoft intends to produce new series in the future.
Halo, Fallout, Minecraft to Who's next?
After many years of being treated to very poor adaptations of video games into films, studios and publishers have (finally) decided to take matters into their own hands.
From now on, studios are directly involved in the production of series. For its part, Sony has even founded a specialized company, PlayStation Production, to handle the porting of Sony's first-party licenses. This drastically improves the quality of productions and adaptations.
For its part, Microsoft has a more mixed record. The Halo series is not really up to scratch. The upcoming Minecraft film seems to herald the worst. But in all of this, we can have some very nice surprises like the adaptation of Fallout. In any case, Microsoft does not intend to stop the adaptations.
During an interview with Variety magazine, Phil Spencer confirmed the information:
Other big Xbox video game licenses could arrive soon, such as Gears of War, Sea of Thieves, Fable or even Perfect Dark which would be the most likely to be adapted into a film or series.
