Microsoft removes the game pass test just before Black Ops 6

In less than ten days, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will hit shelves... and the Game Pass. Since Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard, the famous shooter franchise can finally be included in Xbox's gaming subscription. This year, players will be able to enjoy the latest installment without having to spend thousands. Because at €79.99 for the standard edition, the new chapter in the Black Ops saga is not going to do gamers any good. But if you were counting on the Game Pass trial offer to enjoy the game for just 1 euro, you'll have to think again.

Microsoft and Activision are not fooled and have anticipated the scams. Last year, the Redmond firm began to apply new rules to its formula to avoid abuse. Before, all you had to do was create a new account and try the Game Pass for a month to enjoy the latest AAAs. In March 2023, the trial price had disappeared and returned truncated. Now lasting 14 days, the introductory formula to the Game Pass is available at the discretion of the manufacturer. In September 2023, Microsoft had already taken care to remove this subscription option just before the release of Starfield. The pattern is now repeated with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This new policy is not surprising after the massive overhaul applied to all Xbox Game Pass offers.

Which Game Pass subscription to enjoy Black Ops 6 at release?

Since this summer, Game Pass has been applying new terms and conditions regarding day one games. Subscribers must now subscribe to the highest plan – or the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, billed at €17.99 per month – to take advantage of this benefit on console. The new Game Pass Console subscription – billed at €14.99 – now offers a limited catalog devoid of the biggest games of the moment. On Xbox Series, the Game Pass Ultimate will therefore be the only option to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 without buying the game when it is released on October 25.

On the PC side, gamers are better off. The PC Game Pass formula keeps access to day one releases, but still shows a price increase. Previously offered for only €9.99 per month, you now have to pay €11.99 to access the catalog on this platform. And you, will you go for the direct purchase of the game, or rather go through the Game Pass to limit expenses?
