As the young London brand launched in 2021 Nothing reaches more than 7 million products sold (50% smartphones, 50% audio), its refocusing towards a more aggressive strategy continues. Originally, Nothing wanted to position itself as a premium brand, but the success of Ear and its Nothing Phone (2a) will have rather made it known as good value for money.
Never mind, Nothing confirms the test by launching its Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro under 500 euros, and this even before the launch of a possible Nothing Phone (3). And yes, regulars of the brand obsessed with transparency and design will have noticed, this is the first Pro model that it is launching.
Nothing wants to prove in photos
The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro allows the brand to venture for the first time into an area where it was not yet very present, smartphone photography. This involves the addition of an X3 telephoto lens, the first integrated into a phone at Nothing, but also work to improve its TrueLens Engine which is moving to version 3.0.
In detail, it opts for a 50 Mpx main sensor, a periscope telephoto lens with a 50 Mpx sensor (Sony Lytia 600) allowing it to achieve a so-called "lossless" digital zoom up to the X6. The module is completed by an ultra wide angle with an 8 Mpx sensor. At the front, the selfie sensor goes up to 50 Mpx.
The only major difference between the Nothing Phone (3a) and the Pro is here: the base model does not include a telephoto lens. The rest of the features remain.
We thus find on both smartphones a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (4 nm) chip rather oriented mid-range, support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, IP 64 certification (water resistance, dustproofing).
In both cases also, the screen is a 6.77-inch FHD+ panel (387 ppi) and refreshed at 120 Hz, with a peak brightness boost of 1300 nits.
The battery promises to be solid with 5000 mAh and 50W charging as a bonus. The brand promises a total charging time of 56 minutes.
Price and availability
For the Nothing Phone (3a), pre-orders open on March 5 and sales on March 11. It is marketed 349 euros in the 8 GB + 128 GB version and 399 euros in its 12 GB + 256 GB version. Three colors will be offered: white, black and blue (exclusive on the Nothing website).
The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro will be available for pre-order at from March 11 and on shelves from March 25. It is marketed in a single configuration, 12 + 256 GB for 479 euros. It will be available in two colors: gray or black.
