Renault unveils the price of the big sister of the R5 e-tech: its launch is imminent

Under 30,000 euros, Renault has just carried out a perilous exercise to promote its future electric R4, without cutting too much into the margins. Available from 29,900 euros, the big sister of the R5 E-Tech, elected "Car of the Year 2025", is available for pre-order while orders are expected to open on March 12.

Only the cheapest version will be available under 30,000 euros, since the Evolution finish (entry-level) offers the 150 hp engine (instead of 120 hp) at a price of 33,490 euros, and the techno finish at 35,490 euros. As for the top-of-the-range Iconic, you will have to pay 37,490 euros. Later, a version called "Plein Sud" will be available in the catalog, with the special feature of a canvas sunroof.

What are the advantages of the R4 compared to the R5?

The electric Renault R4 was presented on October 14th at the Paris Motor Show, with a design and name in homage to the iconic Renault 4 of the 1960s. To complete the new range of electric cars inaugurated by the R5 E-Tech, the future R4 is presented as an urban SUV – an electric equivalent of the Renault Captur.

Thanks to its silhouette and dimensions, the R4 E-Tech will offer more space to its occupants, and will allow families who are doubtful about the habitability of the R5 to find what they are looking for. The car is 4.14 m long, 1.8 m wide and 1.57 m high. In comparison, the R5 E-Tech is 3.92 m long, 1.77 m wide and 1.49 m high.

Side trunk, even if that of the R5 E-Tech can prove sufficient, the R4 E-Tech will be more generous with 420 liters against 326 liters.

If prices are increasing, the technical base will not be different. We will therefore find a 120 hp engine associated with a 40 kWh battery, with a WLTP mixed range of 308 km. For higher versions, customers will be entitled to a 150 hp electric motor with a 52 kWh capacity battery, in order to increase the range to 409 km.

The problem of recharging is the same as that on the R5 E-tech. In other words, it will be necessary to limit oneself to 80 kW of power with the 120 hp engine. Fast charging at 100 kW will be specific to the 150 hp version.
